GUSTO 10th Anniversary
GUSTO celebrates its 10th year anniversary with Guest-of-Honour Madam Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore gracing the event.
With over 1200 local families and more than 100 researchers involved, GUSTO aims to maximise the health potential of Singaporeans by building human capital in our young, promoting maternal mental health and addressing gestational diabetes mellitues (GDM).
Back in 2015, a higher than expected prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was discovered in GUSTO. A white paper was then submitted detailing better cost-efficacy of universal testing over high-risk screening. Since then, Ministry of Health (MOH) recommends universal screening for GDM in Singapore which led to the update of Clinical Practice Guideline Recommendations by the College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. This allow early detection and management of GDM in Singapore.
GUSTO has since contributed to multiple spin-off studies to further maximise health potential of Singaporeans e.g. Singapore Pre-conception Study of Long-term Maternal and Child Outcomes (S-PRESTO), Nutritional Intervention Preconception and during Pregnancy to maintain healthy glucose levels and offspring health (NiPPeR), Mapping Antenatal Maternal Moods (MAMS) study.
With a decade of GUSTO behind us, we mark the developmental milestones of GUSTO children moving to the next phase, through primary school, puberty and adolescence and beyond.
