A: It is normal for a breastfed baby not to pass motion frequently. But if your baby doesn’t move its bowels for more than 3 days, you may need to consult your doctor.
- If the breastfeeding mother has blocked ducts and fever, what is she to do?
A: She can see a lactation consultant regarding her blocked ducts. If she has fever, she has to see doctor for medication.
- How does the mother deal with a gastric reflux baby?
A: If the baby has gastric reflux (confirmed by doctor), the baby will have a tendency to feed very often.
- Do I need to stop breastfeeding when my baby has jaundice and is hospitalized?
A: Jaundice is a common condition seen in Asian babies. This condition is treatable and will resolve once proper treatment is provided. There is no need to stop providing breast milk for your baby. You can either directly breastfeed or express milk if you are separated from your baby.
