You are invited to participate in the largest birth cohort medical research study ever conducted in Singapore.
Your involvement with GUSTO will significantly contribute to the understanding of public health among Singaporeans. The information garnered from GUSTO will help us to determine specific 'health patterns' among the predominant Asian races.
A total number of 1500 pregnant women from KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) and the National University Hospital (NUH) will be recruited for this study. Recruitment into GUSTO can happen in your 1st trimester of pregnancy. Doctors from KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), National University Hospital (NUH) and Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS) are joint collaborators.
All sample collection procedures are done by trained personnel, and will not be painful for you or your baby. All tests are non-invasive, except blood collection from mother's only. Click here alleviate your concerns about risks involved.
The list of measurements described here are not exhaustive. As this study is longitudinal in nature, we would like to invite you to participate in expanded areas of this research study - related to further aspects of your child’s health and development. Please note that participation is completely on a voluntary basis.
You will be compensated for your participation.
